Indian Airlines

Indian Airlines was a major Indian airline that operated from 1953 to 2007. It was owned by the Indian government and served as the country's national domestic carrier until its merger with Air India, another state-owned airline, in 2007.

Indian Airlines primarily operated domestic flights within India, connecting major cities, regional hubs, and smaller towns across the country. It played a vital role in providing air travel services to millions of passengers within India, contributing significantly to the development of air transportation infrastructure in the country.

The airline operated a fleet of predominantly Airbus and Boeing aircraft, offering economy class and business class cabins on its flights. Indian Airlines was known for its focus on safety, reliability, and affordability, catering to a diverse range of passengers from various socio-economic backgrounds.

Following the merger with Air India in 2007, the combined entity retained the name Air India, effectively bringing an end to the separate existence of Indian Airlines as a distinct brand. The merger aimed to streamline operations, improve efficiency, and create a stronger national carrier to better compete in the global aviation market.
